Vietnam and Canada have a comprehensive partnership that provides a strong basis for the growth of their economic relations. The two sides also share many similarities in international issues, cooperating closely at multilateral institutions such as the United Nations, Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (Francophonie), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). Since establishing the comprehensive partnership in 2017, the value of import-export turnover between the two countries has grown strongly, with the goal of soon reaching a bilateral trade turnover of 10 billion USD. Additionally, investment activities have yielded remarkable results. As of July 2023, Canada has made direct investments in Vietnam through 253 projects, with a total registered capital of 4.84 billion USD.

In 2023, within the framework of events organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) coordinates with Vietnam - Canada Business Association (VCBA) to organize the workshop “Canada - Gateway for Vietnamese enterprises to access the North American market”.
