During a meeting in Seoul in July 2 between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh who is on an official visit to South Korea and President  Yoon Suk-yeol of the host country, the latter voiced his support for Vietnam to successfully host the fourth Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit in April next year, according to a report from the Government News.

President Yoon was quoted by the Government News as hailing Vietnam as the first country in the world to have signed a climate change agreement with South Korea.

South Korea will assist Vietnam in training human resource for semiconductor chip and high-tech sectors, and in developing its cultural industry,  President Yoon affirmed.

He told the Vietnamese PM that South Korean businesses regard Vietnam as a highly potential investment destination.

President Yoon praised Vietnam for its excellent role as the coordinator of ASEAN-Korea relations and called for continued support in upgrading ASEAN-Korea relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

PM Pham Minh Chinh briefed President Yoon of the significant outcomes achieved during his talks with his Korean counterpart Han Duck-soo, including major directions to further deepen the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership. 

The Vietnamese leader also highlighted the rapid and substantial progress in the two countries' bilateral cooperation in recent times and sought South Korea's collaboration in training human resources in semiconductor, hydrogen and AI sectors.

He also proposed promoting loans through the Economic Development Promotion Fund (EDPF) worth US$2 billion and offering non-binding loan conditions for the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), also worth US$2 billion, to develop strategic infrastructure such as high-speed railways.

Meanwhile, according to a report from the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), President Yoon affirmed during the meeting with PM Chinh that the RoK considers Vietnam a top important partner in carrying out its regional policies, including the Indo-Pacific Strategy and the Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative.

The news agency reported that a focus of the discussion between the two leaders was the economic relationship, with both sides committing  to fostering deeper economic ties, aiming for a bilateral trade value of $100 billion by 2025 and $150 billion by 2030.

President Yoon was quoted by the news agency as  proposing Vietnam create more favorable conditions for South Korean enterprises to participate in Vietnam's major projects, particularly in energy and liquefied natural gas. 

PM Chinh  was also quoted by VNA as  proposing joint efforts to attract Korean investments in key sectors like semiconductors, digital transformation, green technology and biotechnology. He urged the Korean government to priorities high-tech and high-value-added projects.
