Agricultural trade turnover between Vietnam and Russia has doubled in the past five years, reaching an annual average of $1 billion, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

The figure accounts for some 20% of the total trade value between the two countries.

Vietnam exported $331.3 million worth of agricultural products to Russia in the first five months of 2024, a significant increase of 49.7% compared to the same period last year.

Exports of coffee recorded the highest value with $161.6 million, up 39% year-on-year.

It was followed by seafood with $76.4 million, up 87.7%; cashew nuts $28 million, up 81.8%; and fruits and vegetable $26.8 million, up 25.2%.

Other key products also enjoyed export growth during the period, including rubber, wood and wood products, rice and pepper.

Meanwhile, Vietnam chiefly imports seafood, wheat, fertilizer and frozen meat from Russia.
